Homework & Spellings

Spellings

Homework

Children will have regular homework which supports what we are learning in school. I hope you take an interest in their homework but most of the work set should be completed independently. Please help by making sure your child completes homework and that it is always presented as Take Care work. Reading forms part of homework (aim to read for 20 minutes each night) as well as learning spellings and times tables.

Grammar

The KS2 Grammar expectations are extremely high in preparation for the GPS test in Year 6. Therefore, as well as having a weekly lesson on a specific area of the grammar curriculum, children in classes 3, 4 and 5 will also receive grammar as part of their weekly homework. The activities are based on and fully support the learning they will have engaged with in class on the Monday or Tuesday of the same week- there will be nothing new to them. Please ensure your child completes this homework in a 'take care' way and returns in to the class by the Friday so any misconceptions can be addressed. I have included some website links which include advice and games to support your child's learning in grammar!
