Miss Reeves - Class 1

Welcome to Class 1!

Welcome to Class 1 with Miss Reeves. Our class page includes lots of useful information about all of the things that we get UP2 in our busy and exciting classroom.

In Class 1 we work alongside Mrs Weaver, Miss Young and Mrs Chilton as our teaching partners.

This term our topic is 'Farm to Fork' and we will be learning all about what farms produce, different types of farms, old and new farms and the changes over time. Alongside this, we will be learning all about different weather conditions and the effect seasons have on farming and all about how plants grow - including growing a variety of things ourselves! Hopefully, once our produce grows - we will be able to create a non-cook recipe to enjoy. Keep an eye on Twitter to see our progress. We are going to be looking at Andy Goldsworthy and responding to his work, using natural resources to create impressive pieces of artwork and sculpture.

Coming up this term: If you have would like to share any information or expertise, please let Miss Reeves know! We will be embarking on a trip to the farm this term - a chance to see how much work farmers have to do and try our hands at different tasks around the farm! Dates to be confirmed.

Useful information:

  • Our PE lessons are on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Please make sure PE kits are in school all week in case of extra opportunities. You may wish to include some warmer clothing for our outdoor sessions, particularly at the moment as the weather is colder. PE kits should include socks, a pair of trainers for outdoor games and plimsolls for indoor games. Please make sure that all items of clothing are named.
  • Homework is sent home on a Thursday and should be returned to school by the following Wednesday. The homework task is set to practise a concept the children have been learning during the week. We are also sending home some phonics work to help with our phonics screening test in June.
  • Please can I remind parents to discourage children from bring toys into class - items have been getting lost/broken and act as a distraction during valuable learning time. Thank you!

The cloakroom noticeboard is full of useful information including the term’s curriculum maps, timetables, dinner menus and up-to-date letters.
