Mrs Wicks and Mrs Stevens - Year 4 / 5

Welcome to Class 4/5

Welcome to Class  4 and 5 with Mrs Wicks and Mrs Stevens .

This page  has useful information about the day to day running of Class 4/5 and  about what we get up to  in our busy, exciting classroom.

In Class 4/5 Mrs Wicks teaches on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Mrs Stevens teaches on Thursdays and Fridays. We both  work alongside our teaching partners, Miss Wilkinson and Mrs Landers.

This term our topic is 'Tomb Raiders' and we will be   learning  all about the Ancient Egyptians

We will investigate the men and women who studied the kingdoms and explore their discoveries, look at some of the Pharaohs and the development of the pyramids, as well as the mythology that surrounded this early civilisation. We will look at the role the Nile had in allowing this civilisation to flourish and examine daily life, comparing it to our own.

We will also compare the Ancient Egyptian civilisation with the society, climate and terrain of Britain at the time before discovering  how the Ancient Egyptian civilisation came to an end. We will also learn about the evidence of Ancient Egypt that exists in modern Egypt today. We will combine maths and art by recreating the Ancient Egyptian profile drawings and will design our own Shaduf (a  hand-operated device for lifting water, invented in ancient times and still used in India, Egypt, and some other countries to irrigate land) in D&T.

In P.E. we will be building up our fitness skills with  athletics including field and track events and  developing ourattacking and defending skills through Handball.

If you have would like to share any information or expertise on Ancient Egypt, please let Mrs Wicks and Mrs Stevens  know!
