Match Report - By Arthur Dexter

On 3rd May, the Archbishop Cranmer Y5 6-a-side football team played in the Nottingham Forest / Notts Schools FA Finals tournament, having qualified in a previous tournament on 19th April. In the first 3 games we won 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 so that meant we got through to the final where we played Bramcote Hills Primary school. After our many chances we still did not score so… we went into penalties and thanks to the best keeper in the world, Matthew Wyatt, we won because of his 3 amazing saves!

Sports Hall Athletics 2016 was a fun and enjoyable experience. Everyone loved participating in all the activities. I learnt how to do a standing long jump, Florrie learnt how to do a chest push, Jessica and Mya both learnt how to do a triple jump and Charlie and Alexander both learnt how to do a speed bounce, aswell as James.

We all found our sports challenging, but we all rose to the top and achieved our goals. There were about five relay races that everyone took part in. We did extremely well and we all cheered each other on!

Rugby - October 2016

We took a team of Year 3/4 pupils and a team of Year 5/6 girls to the two rugby festivals held at West Bridgford RFC. All the children enjoyed some fantastic coaching from some professional Leicester Tigers rugby coaches and played lots of tag rugby. The children reported that they had learnt lots of new skills and developed their knowledge of the game ... "I learnt that I had to always pass the ball backwards" (Breige, Yr 4). "I learnt that I needed to stay behind the ball" (Mason, Yr 3). "It showed me how important teamwork is.." (Violet, Yr 4). A big thank you to Connie (Yr 6) for taking some great photos! If your child is interested in joining a Rugby Club, we have junior members at Newark RFC, Nottingham Corsairs RFC and West Bridgford RFC (which also has a girls team).

Well done to all children who took part - you did yourselves and Archbishop Cranmer proud!
