Religious Education

At Archbishop Cranmer CE Primary Academy, Religious Education is at the heart of our curriculum and plays a vital role in supporting our vision of ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10).

As a Church of England school, we believe RE helps children to explore faith, beliefs, values and meaning, whilst developing respect, understanding and curiosity about the world around them.

Through our RE curriculum, pupils are encouraged to:

  • ask thoughtful and challenging questions
  • reflect on their own beliefs and experiences
  • develop understanding of Christianity and other world faiths
  • explore themes such as identity, belonging, justice and compassion
  • show respect for different viewpoints and traditions

Our RE curriculum is carefully designed to develop both knowledge and reflection. Children engage with religious and non-religious worldviews, helping them to become respectful, informed and reflective members of society.

As part of our Christian vision, RE contributes significantly to pupils’:

  • spiritual development
  • moral understanding
  • social awareness
  • cultural understanding

RE is closely linked to collective worship, courageous advocacy and our wider Culture of Opportunity, helping children to understand how faith and values can influence individuals, communities and the wider world.

Through discussion, reflection and enquiry-based learning, pupils develop the confidence to articulate ideas, listen respectfully to others and make meaningful connections between faith, beliefs and everyday life.
