Trips, visits and residentials

Educational visits and residential experiences are a key part of our Culture of Opportunity at Archbishop Cranmer CE Primary Academy.

All pupils take part in a range of visits each year, carefully planned to enhance and enrich curriculum learning. These experiences provide valuable opportunities for children to deepen their understanding through first-hand learning, make meaningful connections and develop confidence and independence.

Visits are closely linked to curriculum themes across all year groups. Examples include:

  • Foundation Stage visits such as Perlethorpe Living Nativity, Bestwood Country Park and White Post Farm
  • Key Stage 1 experiences including Southwell Minster and Newark Air Museum
  • Key Stage 2 visits such as York, Newstead Abbey, Mansfield Recycling Centre, Sherwood Observatory and London (including the Houses of Parliament)

Residential visits are a valued part of our Key Stage 2 provision, including:

  • Year 3 residential to York
  • Year 4 and 5 residentials to Willersley Castle or Condover Hall
  • Year 6 residential to Chester

We also place strong value on our local community, with opportunities such as Flintham Show Ploughing Match and Knipton Show helping pupils to develop an understanding of local heritage and rural life.

Through these experiences, pupils:

  • broaden their horizons
  • develop curiosity and confidence
  • build lasting memories
  • grow in independence and responsibility

These opportunities support our vision of ‘life in all its fullness’, ensuring that all pupils can access rich and meaningful experiences beyond the classroom.
