BREAKING NEWS

Foundation Show and Tell

Friday 27th March at 1pm.

We are going to have a try at using video conferencing to get the children to link up with one another this Friday at 1pm.

You will need to visit the website zoom.us, google zoom and click on the address that has zoom.us mentioned and  when you get to the zoom page please click on the join a meeting icon. Then enter this code for the meeting id.

728-648-329

Please do not feel under any pressure to produce anything fabulous, just your smiling faces will be enough! It will be chaos... but hopefully bring a smile to you all.

Please bear with me while I try these new ideas, I am very much learning on the job ! I do apologise if you can't make it work for you this first time, I will rerun such sessions, depending on their popularity. I must confess the first time can be quite chaotic. I am taking a bit of a risk to even try this and I am at the edge of my computer know how !

Looking forward to our face to face time on Friday. Please be with your child as we do this and encourage good listening to each other. If your child doesn't get time to do their  show and tell this time, I will host another meeting when it will be their  turn. We get 30 minutes for free and then we have to pay, please don't click pay anyone, we love the free option. The meeting  will be stopped after 30 minutes.

Thanks

Mrs Maxey

Welcome to Foundation Online Learning Package

Dear Parents and Children

I hope I will be able to support and help you and your families over the coming weeks during this difficult time.  Trying to keep to a simple structure will really help the days pass easily. If you are feeling overwhelmed with too many things to try, just hearing the children read for 10 minutes a day will be time well spent.

Please keep an eye on this page, as there are a few fun things I will be sharing with you over the coming weeks, things that I hope you and your family will enjoy and I will update this page regularly.

So, what can you do? If you feel the idea of home learning is incredibly daunting, fear not, there are a few teachers online who have come to the rescue with expert advice.

Online Phonics Lessons

Ruth Miskins  is running daily phonics lessons on her You Tube channel.  The phonic lessons can be found on https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

Please copy and paste the address into your browser

These lessons will be live streamed every day for two weeks up to Easter but importantly they will not be available at other times, you will not be able to watch these on catch up!

Set 1 speed sounds at 9:30 am   and again at 12:30pm (This is the one I would recommend you start your child on) If they find it too easy you can always watch the 12:30 set 2 speed sounds)

Set 2 speed sounds at 10:00 am and again at 1:00pm

Set 3 Speed sounds at 10:30 am and again at 1:30 pm

If you are super keen you could watch all 3 !!

Online Computer Coding

If your child enjoys solving logic puzzles or working out mazes, then they will love trying their hand at coding. There are online tutorials which your child can do for 15 minute slots a day and work their way through the activities. Your child will not be able to progress until they have successfully completed each section.

Daily Exercise Classes

We would all want our children to be happy during this long period away from school. A perfect way to start the day would be to get your child exercising in the morning with Joe Wicks. Joe Wicks is live on You Tube Monday - Friday 9am on his channel The Body Coach TV.

Hope this is something to get you started as you begin to work out simple structures for your day that work for you and your family. I appreciate lots of you have younger siblings to look after too. Therefore the online approach to learning could be beneficial to you.

Any questions please ask and do get in touch using the contact form below.  Please stay home # Stay Safe.

Foundation Daily Learning Videos

A well respected colleague of mine has made some EYFS videos for each day suitable to share with Foundation.

Hope you can enjoy sharing with your child and talking about the learning of each day. Perhaps you could watch one of these straight after lunch time.

Week 1 Home Learning EYFS

Monday  Day 1 Home Learning EYFS     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utxWsEdU0aA

Tuesday  Day 2 Home Learning EYFS      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBgA5BAToV4

Wednesday Day 3 Home Learning EYFS     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EXLm3Ofvlk

Thursday Day 4 Home Learning EYFS     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6PHu53qYcs

Friday Day 5 to be uploaded

When you are watching these clips, I would encourage your child to have a white board and pen or a note book. Where there are examples of different phonic words, you can pause the lesson at any point and ask your child to write down those words. Or to try and put those words into a sentence of their own. Please let me know how you get on with this style of learning. If it doesn't work we can adapt the activities more. Thanks for the feedback. Mrs Maxey

Listening to Audio Stories

There are some lovely books online that children can listen to. Please see this link.

https://stories.audible.com/start-listen

OR have a time of the day when you have a read to me time, where you share a book with your child. You could even play schools with their toys.

Spring Time Observation

Taking advantage of the beautiful sunshine this week, why not ask your child to complete this observation sheet with you. How many things can they spot in their garden?
