Legacy Art Project

Portrait tutorial

Mrs Hodgson has created a tutorial to get you started with your Legacy Project portrait using just one colour.

As a special legacy for future generations of this time we would like children in the school to draw themselves in certain colours. We will then use the different colours to create a rainbow effect piece of art work in school. We would love it if as many children in each class can do this as possible. Please see the attached letter for more information.  The completed portraits need to be handed into the school office by 5th June. The colour for foundations portraits are red. Please watch this clip for more information.

Thanks Mrs Maxey and everyone at ABC

Still image for this video
Please listen to the following song, we would like as many of the children as we can to learn and sing this song. Please can you and your child familiarise yourselves with the lyrics and have a go at Singing Along with the words. This is the week to record your child singing this song, Mrs Lock has sent all the parents an email explaining how to do this and where to send your finished films too. Please follow the advice in the email. The films need to be emailed over by Wednesday 20th May 2020. Enjoy filming.

Why not collect together all your teddies and give each one a medal you have made to celebrate VE day.  We are celebrating 75 years since the end of World War II, 1945-2020, when soldiers were brave and heroic and gave their lives in battle. Your child could do some VE day baking or make medals or colour in bunting or colour in the lego heroes.

If you would like to explain in more detail to your child what happened on VE day please use the powerpoint below.

Horrible Histories have also made a jolly song to reflect the joyous occasion that VE day represents, if you would like to watch this with your child to gather a sense of the party atmosphere that swamped VE day in 1945.

Please can you email the office or upload photos to seesaw of  anything  special your child has made to celebrate VE day. Thank you.

Today everyone who stays safe and stays at home, is a hero of a different kind, but a hero nonetheless. Well done everyone for keeping everyone well and safe.

Phonics Advice

The children should soon be ready to start Phase 4 phonics, the next three weeks we hope to consolidate their learning and revise all the phase 3 phonemes. It is very important we don't rush on too fast to ensure that all children have their learning secure in phase 3 before we embark on phase 4 phonics. Hopefully you should see their progress in phonics coming through in their fluent reading. Your child should by the end of Phase 3 be able to write and read all phase 3 tricky words independently, as practiced on Tricky Word Trucks, phonics play.

The following two weeks, week commencing 4th May and 11th May, Week 5 and Week 6 of Home Learning will see a revision week of learning in phonics, with the very last week before May half term, being an informal assessment of phase 3 phonics.

Any questions about phonics, just ask, thanks Mrs Maxey

Oxford Reading Tree

You may change books for free and download the next colour phase book bands from the Oxford Reading Tree website.

There are plenty of stories being shared by famous authors too, if you would like to listen to stories with your child, the Cbeebies Bedtime Stories are lovely.

Enjoy nurturing a love of reading. Please tell me all about the progress your child is making with their reading.

If you would like to do additional work with your child on areas that interest them, please feel free to make use of this fabulous online learning resource, with thousands of amazing activities for EYFS. Please use the link

and then add the password UKTWINKLHELPS   or PARENTSTWINKLHELPS

Phonics Games

In support of the daily phonics activities your child may enjoy playing some phonic related games.

Enjoy engaging your child in an interactive fun learning experience.

BBC Bitesize- Online Lessons

There are some exciting developments with Twinkl working alongside the BBC to produce some lessons for the children to watch and take part in.

Whilst there is not a specified EYFS page, as the children draw closer to their transition into Year 1, many of the children are suitably able to access some elements of the Year 1 curriculum and I would recommend looking at some of the weekly learning that is being shared on this page. This is a very helpful and brilliant resource. Please use and dip into this.

Foundation Show and Tell

Every Friday at 1:15pm

Following the success of our video conferencing last term, we are going to have a weekly slot using zoom on Friday afternoons. It would be great to see as many of you there as can make it. Thank you to all of you who have been coming along. Each week please have a chat with your child about what they would like to share with the class about their week on the Foundation Show and Tell. Or if they have a question they would like to ask the class.

You will need to visit the website, google zoom and click on the address that has mentioned and  when you get to the zoom page please click on the join a meeting icon. Then enter this code for the meeting id. 673-021-7554

There is a private password to enter the meeting.

Please do not feel under any pressure to produce anything fabulous, just your smiling faces will be enough! It will be chaos... but hopefully bring a smile to you all.

We get 30 minutes for free and then we have to pay, please don't click pay anyone, we love the free option. The meeting  will be stopped after 30 minutes.
