Homework

At the start of each new maths unit a Busy Ant Parent Newsletter will be sent home explaining what we will be covering and this will include some suggested fun and practical activities to try with your child. This homework is optional but we would love to see what you have been up to if your child would like to bring into school some photographs of them in action.

Spelling lists for the next half term will be sent out at the start of each new term. Please encourage your child to sound each word out using their phonic knowledge and to identify the letter pattern and its associated sound.

Reading regularly with your child and to your child at home, whilst being hugely enjoyable is of great benefit to their development as fluent readers. In addition to reading their individual reading books, please encourage regular practice of their phonics and the high frequency word wall on the laminated sheets which have been sent home in book bags. Books can exchanged before or after school.

Any opportunity to write postcards, cards, thank you letters or shopping lists are also great real life examples of why we need to be able to write and is to be encouraged at home just as we do at school. A successful partnership between home and school is what we aim for to bring out the best in your children.

Any queries or concerns please do get in touch or call in after school.
