Miss Miranda - Class 3

Welcome to Class 3!

Welcome to Class 3 with Miss Miranda. Our class page includes lots of useful information about all of the things that we get Up2 in our busy and exciting classroom.

In Class 3 we work alongside Mrs Weaver and Miss Wilkinson as our teaching partners. Mrs Stevens will also be working in Class 3 on Friday morning to cover my out of class time.

This autumn term our topic is 'Time Travellers' and we are looking forward to finding out lots about key moments in history from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age to the Iron Age before learning about the Romans and how they shaped the Britain that we know today. We will also be learning about forces in science and making our own juggling balls in DT. In our art lessons we will be looking at the work of Vincent Van Gogh to learn about colour, where we will create our own responses to Van Gogh's 'A Wheatfield of Cypresses' using acrylic paint to create texture. Alongside this, we will be discovering what makes people inspiring in our RE lessons, and much, much more!

If you would like to share any information or expertise, or have an hour to spare to help out in Class 3, please let Miss Miranda know!

Useful information:

  • Our PE lessons are on Monday afternoons with Harvey, Laura and Miss Robinson. We ask that on these days your child comes to school wearing their PE kit and brings a pair of clean shoes to wear indoors. Earrings should also be removed or covered at home. You may wish to include some warmer clothing for our outdoor sessions, particularly when the weather is colder. PE kits should include socks, a pair of trainers for outdoor games and plimsolls for indoor games. Please make sure that all items of clothing are named, including shoes.
  • In Key Stage 2, children will complete one piece of high-quality, take care homework each half term which links to our topic learning. Creative homework suggestions will be given out at the start of the term and are posted below for future reference. Children may also receive smaller pieces of homework throughout the term when seen to be beneficial for supporting and extending their current learning.
  • Each Wednesday, pupils will sit a times tables test. Children will be given 3 minutes to answer 24 questions. Questions will vary dependent on the stage they are at in the challenge. If children achieve 24/24, they will move on to the next times tables. This will form part of a tracker as children work through each award.

  • I will send home 10 words each week for the children to learn to spell. Spelling tests will take place each Thursday, which is also when I will send out a new set of words for the following week. The full set of spelling words are available to view below under the 'useful documents' section.
