    Homework

    Spellings:

Children will have 10 words each week to practise for their spelling. These words are taken from the list for their year group in the National Curriculum. They will be uploaded to spelling frame each week, however, children can practise in whichever way they feel most comfortable. Spellings will be tested on a Tuesday.

Other homework may be sent home to practise a concept the children have been learning in the week and an optional creative homework will be sent home termly too.

    Reading

Please read with your child as often as possible, even if only for a few minutes. Miss Murphy’s reading challenge challenges children in Year 4 to read 3 times or more to an adult outside of school each week. If children have read 3 times, they will be able to add a sticker to their reading bookmark at the end of the week. Children who add 6 or more stickers to their bookmark will receive a treat at the end of the half term. Reading records will be collected in every Friday.

Please date and sign their reading record each time they read to an adult, and encourage them to read a range of text types. Useful documents including key questions to support with hearing your child read can be found below.

Please note that we encourage the children in Year 4 to take responsibility for changing their own colour-banded books as they come into school each morning.
