As a Church School we seek to promote the religious, spiritual, moral and cultural development of our children through RE. We enable children to reflect upon and respond to religious and spiritual beliefs, practices, insights and experiences. The experiences offered to our children are based on the beliefs and traditions of Christianity. We follow the Nottinghamshire Local Authority’s syllabus ‘Religious Education for All’ and personalise it to our children through Understanding Christianity. We explore other religions such as Islam, Judaism and Hinduism in order to deepen understanding in a multi-cultural and multi-faith world and we promote Christian values in everything we do.

The Foundation Governors of the school take a lead in this area. Currently the Chair of Governors and members of our Church community meet to monitor our provision and ensure that we provide quality experiences for the children so they can develop as citizens of the world.
All children take part in an act of Collective Worship every day and have opportunities for quiet reflection in their own classroom reflection areas. We have prayers at the end of each day and before meals. All children are invited to take part and show respect for each other. These are opportunities for them to take time to reflect on a Christian value or have a quiet moment in a busy day and to develop their spiritual awareness. We are supported through our link with the local parish and we are able to use both the school and the nearby church, St Thomas’ for our Religious Education.
At Archbishop Cranmer our commitment to R.E. and to our vision statement is translated in to practice and we have a quality enrichment programme to support our learning which means our vision statement is lived out in our daily lives. We aim for children to become excellent Christian role models for the future world and we are inclusive and respectful whilst celebrating global diversity.
With the Christian values and vision as the driving force of all we do, we desire to do something that will be remembered and make a significant difference in the big picture of our children’s lives, now in and in the future so it is also our mission that we work in partnership with one another “ to establish the work of our hands”. This means that our school community also connects our ethical and charitable activities to our vision and values and we provide many opportunities for all pupils to engage in social action and understand how they can tackle injustice.
