  • Our Governors

Our governing body provides strong strategic leadership and robust challenge to ensure high standards and positive outcomes for all pupils. Governors bring a breadth of professional expertise and work closely with school leaders to drive continuous improvement.

    What do governors do?

The governing body has three core functions:

    • setting the strategic direction of the school
    • holding leaders to account for the quality of education and pupil outcomes
    • overseeing the effective use of financial resources

Governors provide both support and challenge, ensuring that leaders are held rigorously to account. They use a range of evidence including performance data, monitoring visits and external validation to evaluate the impact of the school’s work.

    Committees

The governing body operates through a committee structure to ensure detailed scrutiny and effective oversight.

    Finance Committee
Provides rigorous oversight of budget planning, financial monitoring and resource allocation, ensuring value for money.

    Standards, Values and Pupils Committee
Scrutinises pupil outcomes, curriculum quality, behaviour and safeguarding. The committee monitors progress against school improvement priorities and holds leaders to account for standards.

    Operations Committee
Oversees health and safety, risk management, premises and compliance, ensuring that the school environment is safe and well maintained.

    Church and community links

As a Church of England school, governors actively support and promote the school’s Christian vision. They work closely with the local parish and Tim Chambers to ensure the school’s distinctiveness is embedded in daily practice, while also maintaining strong links with parents and the wider community.

    Impact

Governors have a clear understanding of the school’s strengths and priorities. Through regular monitoring visits, engagement with leaders and scrutiny of performance information, they provide effective challenge and support. This contributes to sustained high standards, strong safeguarding practice and continuous school improvement.
