A Culture of Opportunity
At Archbishop Cranmer we aim for all our pupils to leave our school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport and we provide opportunities for all children of all abilities to participate in a wide range of sporting activity.
Thank you to everyone who has participated in a sporting competition or festival. We have just been presented with the School Games Gold Award again!

Our netball club have come such a long way since the start of term! It is lovely being able to see them work their way up from drills and games, to playing matches. They have all done a brilliant job trying out different positions and working as a team😄

We took 2 teams to represent ABC at the Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics Competition! The children showed great determination and resilience, beating many of their personal bests, with both teams getting through to the finals!

Year 5/6 Cross Country Championships at Rushcliffe Country Park. So proud of the team running the 1.5km-2km course today. Really thrilled to be returning in Feb for the finals!

The whole school took part in the Joe Wicks workout for Children in Need! We loved staying fit and healthy whilst being quizzed on our world knowledge!
Key Stage 2 Multi Skills Festival - The children particularly enjoyed Boccia and Curling!! Stars in the making!
Year 5 Tag Rugby Festival at Notts High School - the team showed great courage, resilience and perseverance!

Jump For Heart charity skip off! We raised over £150 and pupils have enjoyed developing their skipping skills so much - you should see the talent on the playground!

Key Stage 2 developing their communication, problem solving and orienteering skills as part of our newly developed Outdoor Adventurous Activity curriculum.
Year 4 and 5 visited Trent Bridge for the Cricket County Championships between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. They children were thrilled to see their county team win! The children observed how the skills, that they work hard to develop, being used in a game by the professionals.
Pupils in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 have been participating in weekly cricket lessons delivered by Chance 2 Shine. Children play and learn through the cricket sessions, learning the importance of resilience, teamwork and respect.
Year 3 and Year 4 developed their cycling skills with Bikeability. Level 1 and 2 complete!

World Book Day 2021 - We zoomed in with local Author, Adam McLachlan who read to us his new book 'Marley the Mindset Champion'. We learnt about the importance of having a positive mindset and showing sportsmanship. We enjoyed asking him questions about what inspired him to write his book.

Children in Y6 got to take part in their Bikeability cycle training which was missed due to lockdown in the summer term. And all the children in Y3 and Y4 enjoyed their cycle training too!

Our amazing ABC 6-aside football team played some fantastic football, never stopped believing or battling and finished 6th in this very competitive finals tournament - Well done boys!
Seventeen of our ABC runners raced in the Carnarvon School X-Country event in very hot conditions - every one did their absolute best making us all incredibly proud! Davis Baker (Yr 3) returned with a very special medal for coming 2nd in his race - Congratulations Davis!
Our ABC netball players teamed up with players from Carnarvon and Robert Miles school for a fantastic festival of netball. The teams played some great netball, everyone developed as a player, we all had fun and the sun shone - A really lovely afternoon!
Our quikstiks ABC team had a fantastic evening of practising and developing their skills in games against 4 other schools - we won some, drew some and lost some and had a lot of fun!
Our ABC team had another great competitive evening of table tennis. We are currently in 2nd place in the league, but with only 4 points between us and the leaders, we have everything to play for as we head to the final fixture in June!
An exciting evening at the Nottingham Forest Academy and our team won 2 games and drew the third making us winners of our group! We are through to the finals which are on the 23rd May! Congratulations Team ABC!
Both the Year 3/4 ABC Team and the Year 5/6 ABC Team really enjoyed their first Handball Festival - everyone developed their knowledge and skills of a really great game! We will definitely be playing more handball!

Team ABC played a fantastic match against Flintham School. Both teams displayed fantastic teamwork and skills but ABC managed to score 6 goals and only conceded 1! Most importantly, everyone enjoyed it - children and spectators!
Our ABC football team enjoyed a great afternoon playing highly competitive football against 4 other Nottingham primary schools and didn't lose a match - what a fantastic achievement!

Our ABC Table Tennis Team showed skill, passion and determination at the second fixture of this year's competitive league, finishing the evening as joint leaders with Parkdale school - A huge well done to all of you!
A huge well done to our ABC team of year 3/4 athletes who won their Rushcliffe Schools Sporthall Athletics heat - a fantastic achievement to take with them to the finals to be held on February 15th!!
Our team of cricketers had a great time practising and developing their batting and bowling skills against other Rushcliffe schools at this festival!
A fabulous evening of fast-paced, footballing fun with our girls ABC Futsal Team. It was fantastic to witness the development of skills and confidence with each match played!

Our team showed great determination, super sporting ability, fabulous team spirit and finished 3rd making us all very proud!
Our very committed cross-country runners gave their all in this highly competitive race at Berry Hill on Saturday 7th October - awesome running by each and every one of our ABC team! A huge well done to Orla, Faith, Freya, Lottie, Ellie, Oilvia, Oli, Charlie, Matt, Alfie, Zak, Will and Arthur!
A fantastic morning of physical activity enjoyed by our team of 8 girls - all completed the 2km fun run, the orienteering activities and 30 mins of dancing!
Fabulous result for our ABC Table Tennis team - Runners up in the league!! Great teamwork and amazing performance from each of our players!
What a great afternoon our ABC Boccia Team had playing matches against 5 other Rushcliffe Schools to qualify for the finals which they won on points. A HUGE well done to Felix, Jacob, Alistair and Henry!!

On 3rd May, the Archbishop Cranmer Y5 6-a-side football team played in the Nottingham Forest / Notts Schools FA Finals tournament, having qualified in a previous tournament on 19th April. In the first 3 games we won 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 so that meant we got through to the final where we played Bramcote Hills Primary school. After our many chances we still did not score so… we went into penalties and thanks to the best keeper in the world, Matthew Wyatt, we won because of his 3 amazing saves!

A huge well done to our ABC team of athletes who competed and came 4th at this athletics event. Everyone not only did their best running, jumping, throwing and taking part in the relays, but most importantly they all reported having thoroughly enjoyed the whole event!
ABC's 6-a-side U10's football team were incredibly excited to have been invited to play in this tournament held at the Nottingham Forest Academy and played 5 highly competitive games against some large city primary schools. We won 3 and drew 2 matches taking us through to the finals! Fantastic team effort - A massive well done to Charlie North, Zac Hardy, Joseph Hare-Goss, Ethan Hose, Arthur Dexter and Matthew Wyatt.
This was our ABC netball team's first inter-school event and the competition was incredibly tough but our team of netballers and their coach Kirsty demonstrated amazing sporting values; in particular, determination, passion and team work. Great experience to take forward to the next netball event!
Our ABC table tennis team had a great evening of playing challenging and tough matches against several other school! Fantastic teamwork and it was great to see our players determination as they battled for each point - well done Freya, Jess, Zac, Ethan and Arthur!
A massive well done to our Yr 3/4 boys who braved the sleet, rain and wind and played some great football before the event had to be called off due to children literally freezing!
The girls played a fantastic game against Carnarvon showing skills, determination and strength - they may have lost the game but they made themselves and us very proud!
A huge congratulations and well done to Mya Edwards and Flo Sudborough who ran in the County Championships on Feb 4th at Wollaton Park representing Rushcliffe Schools. They came 30th and 31st and Rushcliffe won the event overall!
Team ABC Footballing girls had fabulous fun at the Rushcliffe Schools Futsal Event and remained unbeaten through the evening! All the girls developed their football skills and their confidence!
Our team of 10 children raced, jumped, hurdled and celebrated each others successes at the Sportshall Athletics event at Rushcliffe Leisure Centre - Fabulous sporting fun!
Despite two key members of our cross country team being injured and unable to run the last race in the league on December 10th 2016, our girls team finished 4th and our boys team 5th in the league - out of the 17 Nottinghamshire schools which entered a team. Fantastic results and a huge well done to all our runners!

Our first inter-school table tennis competition and what a great event it was! Team ABC won one match and lost the other but had lots of fun, gained lots of experience .. and are already practising for the next fixture in February!
Our sports leaders are already implementing their action plan, which they developed following their training. They aim to inspire and engage KS1 children in a range of planned sporting games and activities which they will lead at lunchtimes. What fabulous and inspiring sports leaders!
Sports Hall Athletics 2016 was a fun and enjoyable experience. Everyone loved participating in all the activities. I learnt how to do a standing long jump, Florrie learnt how to do a chest push, Jessica and Mya both learnt how to do a triple jump and Charlie and Alexander both learnt how to do a speed bounce, aswell as James.
We all found our sports challenging, but we all rose to the top and achieved our goals. There were about five relay races that everyone took part in. We did extremely well and we all cheered each other on!

Our first football match was a local derby against Carnarvon Primary School played away. Our squad of 12 Yr 5/6 boys, selected and coached by Harvey, did themselves, Harvey and Archbishop Cranmer proud in what was an incredibly close match! A last minute goal scored by Charlie North resulted in a 4-3 win to us! Fantastic football, terrific teamwork and a remarkable result - Congratulations Team ABC!
