Archbishop Cranmer CofE Primary Academy Striving for life in all its fullness. John 10: 10

P.E and Sporting Opportunities

We offer a wide variety of sporting opportunities ranging from cross - country to lacrosse. As part of our on going commitment to providing a culture of opportunity, pupils can access the following clubs at no charge: hockey, table tennis, football, netball, cross country and even golf!

As well as employing specialists to enrich our PE curriculum we have a pupil minister for sport and health and two PE advisors who we consult with regarding innovative approaches to PE, sport and health and well being.

Take a look at some of the activities we offer...

We are the 2014 Boccia Champions!!

Well done to 5 of our KS2 pupils, Cameron Brown, India Larcombe, Kate Harris, Martha Harris and Alex Newton who made up our winning team for the Rushcliffe Boccia Tournament.

Kate and Martha wrote a report on the event which they shared with parents, staff and pupils in Friday's Golden Book/Integrity assembly where they all proudly showed off their medals!!

A big thank you to Cheryl Sheard for organising this event.

Congratulations to all our cross-country winners....

Our Year 4, 5 & 6 boys are the

Nottinghamshire cross-country champions!

A great big fuss to be made please and a display of medals!

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the children who have represented Archbishop Cranmer in sporting events this academic year so far. Last week was particularly busy and saw our cross country runners perform exceptionally well in both the Rushcliffe schools cross country championships followed by the cross country event at Sutton Lawns. A special mention must go to Tatty Dexter for coming an over all 2nd in the Nottinghamshire Schools cross country. (Over 100 pupils participate in this!) And to the girls and boys cross-country teams who both came 2nd.   Many of our children train very hard for this, and we are incredibly grateful to Suz Furman who co-ordinates both the training and the events for the school.

On Saturday 1st February Archbishop Cranmer pupils attended a county cross-country event organised by Chris Ballard on behalf of Rushcliffe and Suzanne Furman kindly organised the event for us so our pupils could take part. Six areas across the county participated, including Newark, Gedling and the City. Our area, Rushcliffe, claimed a fantastic first position for both the girls’ and the boys’ races.

59 boys from years 5 & 6 took part. Tatty Dexter came in at an excellent 4th position. 67 girls took part and our own Olivia Smith came in at 13th. Well done to all our runners – we will be making a fuss of you all in assembly on Friday!

On Tuesday 4th March, pupils from years 3 – 6 attended a Rushcliffe cross-country relay event. 31 teams from across the county participated. Suz Furman entered 3 teams for us. We came 2nd (to a school with nearly 500 pupils!) 6th and 23rd. Fantastic results – well done to you all!
