Our Curriculum Intent

Our Beyond Expectation curriculum is designed with the core purpose of profound personal development  delivered through our vision of 'striving for life in all its fullness' . It recognises children’s prior learning, provides first hand learning experiences, allows the children to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and become creative, critical thinkers enabling our children to not just discover who they are, but to know what is possible and what they can become.

Our curriculum embraces the community in which it is situated, recognising local history, heritage, geographical and business links and most importantly, the aspirations of all our children. We place strong emphasis on the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all our pupils and our school community has identified a clear set of British Values that underpin expectations for behaviour for all members of our school family.

Every child is recognised as a unique individual who is valued by God. We celebrate and welcome differences within our school community. The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and  values. We constantly provide a culture of opportunity to engage learning through a range of avenues and believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in our lives where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge. We seek to 'establish the work of our hands' (Psalm 90:17) and promote positive attitudes to learning which reflect our Take Care values and skills needed to promote responsibility for learning and future success.

Community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum as we celebrate local traditions, learning new skills to enable the children to take an active role in events throughout the year.Children leave the school with a sense of belonging to a tightly knit community where they have the confidence and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners and to be the best they can be.

Our Curriculum Model

At Archbishop Cranmer our curriculum model is specifically designed to allow all of our children to leave our school as knowledgeable, resilient and independent learners. Our curriculum provides a framework that scaffolds learning and supports children in knowing and remembering more, whilst being afforded a wealth of experiences through our Culture of Opportunity.

How do I find our more about what my child will be learning?

Every term, teachers  send out information to parents and carers  explaining what children will be learning about during this period.  If you require more detail, you can use the contact form on the class pages or you can make an appointment to speak to your child's class teacher who will be happy to supply you with further information.
