Art and Design

Art and Design at Archbishop Cranmer CE Primary Academy

At Archbishop Cranmer, we follow the National Curriculum Framework for Art & Design as the basis for curriculum planning, linking teaching to the termly topic whilst focusing on progression of the key skills. Our aim is to inspire, engage and challenge pupils by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment and create their own works of art. As they progress through the school they will develop a deeper understanding of art and design, exploring the impact it has on the contemporary life and that of different times and cultures. This will include learning about the lives and works of innovative artists alongside the classics such as Van Gogh, Monet and Warhol, to challenge conceptions of the field and deepen understanding of different mediums and influences of artists.

Art Club with Mrs Hodgson

We’re excited to announce that our after school Art Club will be starting on Wednesday 6th November for the duration of the rest of the Autumn Term. The club will run from 3:30pm until 4:30pm.

Art Club is a place to learn new skills and techniques, find out about interesting and innovative artists and discover your inner artist! The theme for this term’s Art Club is ‘Our Community’, where we will be producing some artwork for school display to incorporate our links with the local area and our Church.

Children from Years 3 to 6 are welcome to attend Art Club, however spaces are limited to just 10 children on a first- come first-served basis.

If your child is interested in attending Art Club with Mrs Hodgson, please see the below letter and return the slip to the school office.

Art and Design and Our Local Community

Each year at Archbishop Cranmer Primary Academy, we take part in the Vale of Belvoir Rotary Junior School Art and Photography Competition, which invites young and budding artists to enter artwork responding to a given theme.

This April, we were visited by members of the Belvoir Rotary Club to announce that one of our Year 4 pupils, Leila, had been awarded with the winning prize. We also had two best in class winners, Lola and Lotti. The winning entries were framed and displayed in Bingham Library for all to see.

Why not try your chances and enter this year's competition. The theme is 'Summer Holidays'. Download the letter below.
