Policies
School policies cover every aspect of school life. Below are some of our most important policies for your reference. If you want to know our policy on something that is not listed, or paper copies of any documents, please ask the school office.
Policies address the practical implications of how to achieve the school's vision and are a key means of ensuring that agreed values underpin day-to-day decisions and actions in our school. They are concerned with key processes within school and are about interactions between school, pupils, parents and community. They are about ensuring highly effective teaching and learning, about safety and about basic human rights.
All policies at Archbishop Cranmer intend to guide the work of the Head Teacher and the staff to provide a framework for the smooth functioning of our school based in a shared understanding of the school's strategic plan and vision.
We have 2 categories of Policy:
Statutory - covering major strategic areas required by law, as stated by the Government's Statutory Policies for Schools document Many of these are MAT wide policies.
Discretionary - additional policies covering additional areas, not required by law. At Archbishop Cranmer, we call these ‘Standards’.
Each policy is 'owned' jointly by a member of staff and the Leadership Team or a Governor, and ratified by the Governing Body.
Our Statutory policies can be seen below and some of our most important discretionary policies (Standards) are also on this page.
The Aspire Multi-Academy Trust has produced a range of policies which are implemented across all Academies within the MAT. The aim of MAT policies is to provide consistency of practice and guidance across all Academies in the MAT, and to reduce duplication at local level. Additional policies may have sufficient local content to require the production of an Academy-specific policy, which will be found here.
